Laser Tattoo Removal FAQ

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Actually Work?

At NIXX, it absolutely does! Unlike other purported tattoo removal clinics in Vancouver, we use state-of-the-art technology known as PicoSure. It is effective on all ink colors (from dark black to vibrant hues) and all types of skin. Under the expert hand of our technicians, PicoSure employs a photo-mechanical pressure wave that shatters the smallest of targeted ink particles. It removes them without injuring the surrounding skin, and requires fewer treatments than traditional nanosecond lasers.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal Safe?

Once again, the answer to the question is that at NIXX - it is! There are other Vancouver area clinics that use invasive surgical procedures, antiquated Q-switch lasers, and nonosecond lasers that use photo-thermal “technology” to heat the ink particles. All of these can compromise the wellness of a client. Instead, NIXX leverages the power of PicoSure PressureWave pulses. These pulses are so rapid that they initiate a change in pressure that breaks ink apart into microscopic particles. These particles are absorbed by the lymphatic system and eliminated naturally. Simply put, our process taps into your body’s natural defenses to get the job done safely.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Hurt?

It depends upon your threshold for pain, but as someone who has been tattooed, you’ll find peace of mind that the experience will be much more comfortable when compared to getting the tattoo. It’s the old “elastic band snaps” analogy. Moreover, our process places client experience above all else, with technicians working at a pace that you’re comfortable with. A refrigerated cooling fan will also be used to alleviate potential discomfort felt during treatments.

How Many Tattoo Removal Sessions Are Required?

It depends on the color, depth of ink, quality of ink, size, and complexity of the tattoo. The age of the tattoo also plays a role, as it may have already faded with time (giving you a head start, so to speak). The health of the client is also a key consideration. It also depends on whether or not you want full removal, or fading for cover up. The typical number of sessions required ranges anywhere from 3 to 12 treatments. We’ll have a better idea of what to schedule after your initial consultation (book for FREE, right here).

What is the Recovery Time for Laser Tattoo Removal?

Immediately following treatment, blistering or crusting may occur for approximately 7-14 days. You are required to wait 8 weeks between sessions to ensure that your lymphatic system has adequate time to “flush out” shattered ink particles. If you are using our fading for cover-up service, you need to wait 3-months after the final treatment to get your new tattoo.

Does Laser Tattoo Removal Cause Scarring?

Potential for scarring is dramatically reduced with our PicoSure technology, and incidents of scarring are very rare. Occurrence of scarring would generally be the result of excessive and untreated blistering, and a lack of aftercare, so be sure to follow your technician’s aftercare instructions. Some individuals may experience hyper-pigmentation (the darkening of skin color) or hypo-pigmentation (the lightening of skin color), but this is usually temporary with normal skin tone being restored once healing is complete.

What Does Laser Tattoo Removal Cost?

As addressed above regarding the number of sessions required, cost is entirely variable and contingent upon the following factors:

  • Age of the tattoo

  • Color of the tattoo

  • Depth of tattoo ink

  • Size of the tattoo

  • Skin pigment of the client

  • Health of the client

But don’t worry about getting an estimate, because consultations are 100% FREE of cost. Furthermore, your technician will discuss your budget and will offer customized packages based on the anticipated number of treatments.
